There’s a chance you may be asking yourself, “How did I end up reading this blog with no cohesive theme and also appears to be written by a crazy person?” Well, I can assure you it’s totally not mind control. Totally.
Besides, I’m not crazy. Just caffeinated. And perhaps a touch eccentric, which also explains the lack of cohesion in my subject matters.
That’s beside the point. The point is that you’re here and I’m happy to have you. My name is Beth, but some may know me better by my gaming handle: TheNerdWife. My love of gaming, which I share with my handsome husband, has inspired many of my hobbies and even a few odd jobs. For awhile I ran a small online crochet business where I sold video game themed items, from scarves to hats to laptop sleeves. There was a year where I was an author and editor for a major modding project, however it sizzled out when all the building files were corrupted and it never saw the light of day. I also wrote gaming news articles for a site targeted to gamers and did freelance editorial pieces for a couple other similar websites. These few examples are all in spite of my nursing education.
This is simply the tip of the iceberg for my love of fantasy and fiction. Once the layers of gaming and TV binging get peeled back (I’m not even going to touch my SuperWhoLock and friends obsession), my main focus at the moment is writing. Currently, I’m working my way through my first novel and have high hopes of finishing the first draft before the end of this year.
However, life’s little curve-balls have a way of delaying any goals I may set. It’s from fate’s funny twists that my husband and I have been brought into our new home. After an unexpected and unwarranted eviction, my family offered us the opportunity to move into the house my great-grandparents built and oversee the much needed renovations on it. All the while, also working as part caretaker-part nurse for my grandparents.
With an opportunity we couldn’t afford to turn down, my husband and I packed up our things and our three ridiculous cats and moved out to the country side in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Follow along with me as I write, paint, cook, bake, sew, crochet, garden, and game my way through this crazy life!
